  • As part of The Leap Year Project, I am taking two leaps. The first one is to plan a 5K race that raises funds and awareness for homelessness in Chicago.

The second one is to notice, appreciate, and record the positive things in life; the things that make me smile, the things for which I am thankful, the things that truly matter. I have found that it is so easy to forget all the small, happy moments. A million good things happen in a day. They are typically small things, but those are the things that are important. Those are the things I want to remember when I look back on each day.

I eagerly anticipate capturing these beautiful moments and collecting them as a treasure to be cherished for years to come...

...the warm doggy smell of a snuggle-pup after a long day
...an animal band-aid to whisk away the pain of a tetanus shot
...a smiley spoon winking at me from the dish rack
...an evening with people who know me and love me, who make me laugh
...a succulent and delicious Clementine in the morning

These are the little things that make life wonderful.
