  • Coldest winter morning so far, minus 21 Celsius (-6 Fahrenheit). Windows are crying inside.

Inland it’s even colder today. Minus 35 Celsius (-31 Fahrenheit). Years have however taught that minus thirty in dry inland climate feels much warmer at skin and inside lungs than minus twenty by windy and humid seaside.

When this kind of cold days follow each other, liquid teardrops are freezing inside our window glasses to ice. Winter jewels, we call them then.

It was a little shock when I first time met some runners who did their long workouts in this kind of chilly weather half-naked without shirts. Bodies carmine red and steaming. Siberian custom, they said.
