    After praying, she’ll “just sit there and literally talk to God,” she said.

    She finds a powerful link with God when she prays, and feels like she’s been loyal to Him.

    “I feel like it gives you a lot of comfort,” she said. “Even if a lot of other things in your life aren’t going well, you have that grounding thing. That this part of my life is okay and my spirit is strong.”

    She’s said her parents, who have taken the pilgrimage, haaj, to Mecca, felt it too. They said it didn’t even feel like a religious journey but more like a vacation – a sort of spiritual high, she called it.

    “When they came back, they were literally ecstatic,” she said.
