  • I spent four years in the Marine Corp, but my last two years were memorable. I was being send to Kaneohe bay ,Hawaii for my last two years. The flight was long it lasted six hours, and four of the six hours we flew over the Pacific ocean. I had never experienced that before. We came out of the clouds, and I saw this island it was so green like an emerald surrounded by sky blue water. I saw smoke coming out of one of the volcanoes there. We landed and it was so warm around eighty degrees. I was so excited imagine a kid like me from the southside of Chicago arriving in paradise. When I stepped out of the airport the air smelled so fresh and clean my senses felt so alive. I saw the different nationalities moving about in t shirts flip flops and shorts in the middle of January. I looked up and saw these huge mountains in the distant looking tall and majestic. On my way to the base I saw houses in the side of the mountains spiraling up to the top I was in awe. I was so amazed with my first day in Hawaii it was definitely culture shock.
