  • These are the times that try a man's soul. I remember that line from a folk song I heard in the 60's - I don't remember who sang it or wrote it. I just know that it feels like it applies to right now. It has been trying times for this man's soul.

Fortunately, I feel like I'm up to the trial. For awhile there, I was feeling a little bit like I was drifting. I wasn't feeling quite as focused, or sure of myself (confident?) as I was, not too long ago.

Events of last year changed me. I thought I knew how I felt about life, and death, and everything in between, and I guess I did, then. Now - I'm not so sure.

But, now, I am o.k. with that. If I knew it all, I would not be teachable. I would not be open to what the universe has in store for me.

Do I still feel that the universe is a friendly place? Absolutely! Nothing that's happened has changed that belief, that faith. If anything, it is stronger than ever.

The rest of it - I have no idea. I am open. Whatever happens, I believe, will reveal itself as we go. My faith in the universe, in the power of human kindness, is still strong as ever. You can't blow that up.
