  • My brother - in - law, Raúl Suárez, is a man, who is a specialist running fine restaurants. As long as I know Raúl, though, his passion has been reading. In his office he has a huge library and whenever he can he sits down and reads. He knows all the classics, the Greek philosophers, German, Spanish, American and of course all Latin American writers. He could be a literature professor at any university. Just like Jean - Claude, Raúl is the true image of an armchair - philosopher.

Whenever he can he travels the world with his wife.

Finally, last year, Raúl sat down and published his own stories, compiled in a book with the title EL MENSAJERO DE DíOS. My favorite story is where he describes a Jewish bakery in Paris. Each time I read this it makes my mouth water. I need to travel to Paris and look for that bakery before I die!

A few days ago Raúl wrote me that a huge meeting is coming up in Havana, Cuba, where all of Fidel Castrp´s didactic and philosophical writings will be treated and discussed. Six foreign books will be presented at this same event, one is Mexican and is Raúl´s story - book.

He is so content and proud!

My mother - in - law was a cousin of Fidel Castro, their family originated in Galicia, Spain. While Castro fought his revolution in Cuba, most of his Mexican relatives became pretty good capitalists. By choosing his book for the event Castro shows that a family can overcome the war of classes.

I just wished that any Cuban could travel the world just like the man on my image on the cover of the book!
