  • I have been in the education business for over 40 years. I have taught Math and Latin, English and Reading, Girls and Boys. I love it. I have worked with and for some great people. My first boss died last Thursday, the Headmaster who hired me and guided me in my first years as a teacher. He was a wise man, a philosopher, and I loved talking with him. He had so much to offer a young teacher. He was never bothered when a faculty member resigned. He believed that a new person could be found who might not have all the same talents, but who would bring new talents and ideas to the school. He daughter called me the "Cliff Monster". When it was my time to leave his school, he wrote me a long note and called me "the irreplaceable Cliff Monster." I still have the note. I still have the memories. Your mentors in life are always your mentors; your heroes are always your heroes.
