  • “Out Darkness. Out.
    Get thee hence”:
Brigit, goddess of light, flashes her teeth.

The screaming serpent coils and shivers
    Sucking for sustenance,
retreats, hiding its gaze from the glare.

Quarry enough in the darker corners:
urban umbrage composting under foot by the draughting door
fallen seed germinating in a rug
micro eco system colonising behind a picture frame
gossamer veils wafting in the hall
(Spare the daddy-long-legs, for he enjoys a mosquito meal )

“Gorge thyself and get thee gone”.
The serpent slithers to a subterranean gloom.

    Brigit, radiant this morning,
    flashes her brightest, winning smile
“Do join me for tea”, she demands.

We thaw in her warm illumination

    Imbibing the bright
    celebrating a passage into light
