The best metaphor I heard was this: a parent whose geneticist told her that her son with Down syndrome lives in a world in the key of G, while we live in the key of E.

I like this answer to the difference I don’t yet know how to process. The other world my son will live in is perhaps just a different composition, with a communicable beauty and its own logic I might not be able to deconstruct but will appreciate for what it is, a beauty that will find and move me and possibly others, and complexity - not a different world, a different scale.
