  • There are times when there are so many things to say that nothing will come...

    This is a photo of a road being cut from a mountain in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The road will bring visitors from the city and these people will arrive with high offers for land. There will be cash transactions that are impossible to refuse. Like a train wreck, I can see people being displaced and disenfranchised. Livelihoods are going to be lost.

    But much like you and I would do if presented with similar circumstances, mountain villagers see the immediate possibility of school tuition for their children. They will give anything for the future of their kids. Tradition and ownership are thrown under the proverbial bus. We are living in the here and now...
