  • This painting by Dimitris Mistriotis (aka Captain Mighas - ΚΑΠΕΤΑΝ ΜΥΓΑΣ) accompanied me in my travels and has repeatedly provoked in me a feeling of profound joy.
    One spring evening, few years ago, following the news on the flotilla that was heading to Gaza to break the blockade, I came across this verse "... تجري الرياح بما تشتهي السفن - the boats are rocked by the winds as they please ...", and perhaps I sensed the magnificent underwater strength of this work.
    But next morning the joy was replaced by bitter taste of salt ...
