  • Often, there is nothing less inspiring than a Facebook status update. NaNoWriMo put a twist on it today with the challenge, "Today's writing prompt: take the first line of the Facebook status directly below this one, and use it as the opening to a super short story here in our comments." Following that rule, the status assigned to me was from cat-centric Hauspanther, which was sharing a cartoon from Manhattan Cat Specialists.

    Using that, this is what I mustered:

    I love the way their little minds work. Sniping, blaming, deflecting, passing bucks like it was their job. Their small minds can't wrap themselves around the ideas of responsibility and diligence. Tales of woe abound, and they're always the victim; childish martyrs in their third decade of life. I often wonder how that will work out for them, as I don't plan to be around them long enough to find out.
