  • The sky yields a beautiful moment that lingers from evening into the night, where time draws slowly out of the day, stretching toward the darkness. The beauty of that moment is easily amplified in the right environment.
Somewhere in this collection of stories is the account of what occurred after this moment, where dusk quickly faded and the realization that we were alone, in the dark, on a mostly deserted island set in. The fear and panic of running through the mountainous jungle overtook the memory of sitting on the makeshift fence here, at the edge of the marsh, looking out at the miniature lights calling out signs of life from Hong Kong in the distance.
It took until now to remember the peace I felt in that moment.
