  • Ripples washed through my life. Crushed me against the bank.

    I put my hands in the water to push them back, but just made more.

    I made myself small, like a glass of water and there were less. But I was less.

    I thought of sinking down, down beneath the ripples. But there was nothing there I wanted.

    I let the ripples take me to the edge.

    Took a hold of the earth, climbed up the muddy bank,

    To build a bigger boat.
