  • Making your bed
Before my divorce I slept almost every night in a very beautiful bed for two made of teak. The bed was made in the 60´s, a delicate Scandinavian design, and I was very proud of it.
Being married to an abusive husband this bed, as the years went by, became the place of threat and danger. Nice pillow-talk could suddenly change course and become a threatening experience.
One evening I was sure that my life was in great danger and put a pair of scissors under my pillow. That evening fortunately nothing happened. While making the bed the morning after and seeing the scissors under my pillow - I knew I had to move out.
    And I did.
The first years after my divorce my night-sleep was troubled - my back ached and nightmares took hold of my dreams. I gave the old teak-bed away and bought a single bed. It didn´t work. I tried to change mattresses: a swamp mattress, a futon mattress and a tempur one. But it wasn´t until I thought of buying an inflatable mattress (which you use when out camping or having a guest staying in your house) that my body and soul were satisfied.
Every evening I prepare my mattress, give it a little air, and - my back is not hurting any more - my dreams don´t bother me and I wake up happy every morning.
