  • I've been on a 26 day Cowbird Cleanse.

A break from the vaca-ave mode of Cowbirding the day away; an eyewash, not entirely bereft, I hope, of a smudge of wit and hogwash; a chance planned and grabbed to sit, to look, to lifeguard my life, to stretch...for what relationship doesn't need a break.....

And so the Cowbirder, like a cat burglar in plain daylight, eyed the heights from which she might look out, to cowcleanse her eyes awhile, to stretch to the sea, to stretch long and sweat, to wordcleanse to find words again, to eye cleanse to find eye and word work again, to see light, to find stomach for the hunt,

To find small and know it to be small, to shuck off rumours of apocalypse in every molehill, to moult December, and its bloody mean cohort January, to return the same but different, different because the hours are different, different never indifferent, acclimated to the scars the riptides leave on the sea, the intersections, yes, the intersections get jammed in January, the snowbirds seek the light, the moo cow chews the light, never eschewing the love left but never lost.

Just a soul cleanse to be the better shining morbidity, to come back in Cowbird chiaroscuro...just a while on a strange and singular perch...that's really all we have...just a view of it all, for a bit...small bravos and bites....a hope that on any given Thursday a petite tender beso might come our way.
