  • I had the uncomfortable realization today when I was talking to my mother on the phone that she knows she doesn't know anything about my life.

    I told her so.

    At which point, she launched her thoughts on marriage in contemporary society, and then James Joyce, and then reasserted her fear of driving in the snow.
