  • It was a small gathering of creatives.
There was a panel discussing 'collaboration.'

I almost didn't attend. The creation-phase of The Leapyear Project had just begun and I was in over my head with all types of work. But, a close friend was hosting it and I knew it would be helpful.

No one expected Sean Astin to be on the panel. He was a 'surprise' that walked in with a friend.

Afterward, there was a line of people waiting to speak with him, take photos, high five, etc.

"What should I do?" I thought to myself as I stood in line.

"Take a quick picture and tell him that 'I loved The Goonies,' or tell him about The Leapyear Project??"

It was my turn. I gave him the best 15 second intro I could muster.

    He loved it.

With people still left in line behind me, he said that he was swamped the rest of the week and that we should hang out now.

"As in..right now?? Yeah. Let's do it."

And just like that, I had one of the most encouraging conversations of the project.
