  • Driving up to Belur from Hassan on a rainy evening, it was decided that we would make a detour to visit an ancient, 12th century temple in a quaint village called Doddagaddavalli.

This beautiful temple lies in the midst of vast, lush green fields with a lake in its backyard and a handful of houses on one side. This temple dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi is not visited by many, which is a good thing :)

Thanks to some heavy rain and thunder, we were holed up in the temple for more than an hour, when a large family drove up to offer prayers. As they walked in and out, I sat in a corner and photographed them.
