  • It was the moment I had been waiting for. Here. Now.
But it was not a moment in a linear succession of moments.
Surprisingly, it was a moment that had been here all along.
    The only moment.
    A moment so faint,
    so delicate,
    so undemanding,
that I had missed it all these years.
It was a moment much like any other,
    yet different.
    Unadorned, yet stunning.
    Subtle, yet undeniable.
    Fully formed, yet indescribable.
It was the moment I saw
what had always been here to see,
    and knew
what I had always known but forgotten.
It was the moment I heard,
    without straining at all,
    I heard
    the splendid song of life.
