  • "I think, therefore I am."
"But that's just the start of it, right?"
    "No, that's the entire phrase."
"Yes, I know that. I meant to say that being isn't enough in itself, it's just a starting point. Right?"
  • "What does it mean, to you? I mean; what does it mean to be? And is it enough?"
"Of course not, you have to add something, like... a content."
"What's the content of your being, then?"
    "I dunno... My family?"
"You think, therefore you have a family?"
"Ok, so... my job? My love of poetry?"
    "You askin' or tellin'?"
    "Come on!"
"It's this simple, really: It's a question of how you define yourself. A friend taught me that."
  • "I mean, if you can't even define yourself, as in the contents of your being, then you really shouldn't quote Descartes."
"Has anyone ever told you that you're uncompromising and mean?"
"Absolutely. A lot of men feel intimidated by women who see right through their bullshit."
"So you think I'm full of shit, is that what you're saying?"
"Now you're using that deductive tool, good for you!"
    "Fuck off!"
  • "I guess the question I am left with, is this: Is there more? To you. Is there more to you?"
    "More than what?"
"More than what you're showing. 'Cause you're not exactly coming off as impressive. You know? You need to make a little bit of an effort."
    "To impress you?"
"To keep my attention. I mean; is there more to you than hot air and embellished phrases?"
"You make it very hard, caviling like this. I don't know why I even bother; you and I simply don't communicate very well."
"It's really not a matter of miscommunication, you know. It's the thinking before you speak."
"But talking to you is impossible, woman, you keep flinging every word back at me, slapping my face with them, you're killing me here!"
"Start thinking before you speak, that's all I'm saying. Words get in the way only when you speak out of turn, only when you choose to speak when you should have held your tongue, only when you speak just for the sake of filling the silence."
"Well, I think we're done talking."
    "Check mate, huh?"
    "Fuck off!"
"I won't tell you that foul language reveals a lack of creativity, but I will say this: I like it when you speak outright."
"Well, I gotta say I wish you wouldn't."
"Deal with it, or stay away."
"How do you even have any friends? Seriously?"
"I'm actually well worth the effort."
    "I doubt that."
"All I'm asking of you - really - is that you do some thinking before you address me. I'll repeat my question if you want: Is there more to you?"
  • That's the question, really.
