  • My son is 18 as of last July, and has taken the Steve Jobs/no college paradigm to heart. Honestly if Mr. Jobs were alive I'd be motivated to say something to him, but no matter...
What I know is that in my son's life I.Took.TheTime : We watched, talked, explored, researched interests, traveled, laughed, posited theory, and argued. I taught him to know his mind and to follow his heart. Yes, I did.
    That said, over the years..,
I worried about hacker police coming to the door....
He's quiet and an introvert but, smart. Wily smart. Thought I might be interviewed at a point or two, even...

Like all kids, they break a heart as they crack it wide open.
    Parenting as "blood sport"...
I keep telling him that "He's my only egg". That I still expect "my beach house" someday...
Lovingly he laughs, and goes quietly, his own way...
Not starting college this winter term, I'm charging him rent, handing him the cell phone bill...
These are our kids, maybe our only eggs, and they live in the future that, looks nothing like mine did anyway...
    hopefully we taught them enough...
    Hopefully we took the time.
