  • There are some days that Cowbird just knocks my socks off. I don’t know what it is, but today just absolutely rocked in this joint! Was I more receptive today, or were you all just exceptionally on the mark today? Who the hell knows? I just know that I found myself saying, “Wow”, “Yes!”, “Exactly!”, and “That’s amazing!”, practically everytime I pulled up a story today. So many hit me right where I needed to be hit, right where I live, and took me on journeys far, far away from the Winter doldrums I woke up to this morning.

I embraced the darkness, got a wake-up call, and read a fascinating story that involved rats, which doesn't happen often (me and rats just are not on the best of terms – snakes, spiders, no sweat – rats – uh-uh... I hate those vermin!) But what a good story. I read about dancing with muses. What a concept! If I ever find a muse, I’ll have to remember to try dancing with her! Might have to crank up “Bell Bottom Blues”, now that I have an indepth understanding of where “blue jeans” came from, and will try to keep my emotions in check (Eric is the lead singer there). I continued an amazing journey through time and Mexico, read a compelling fable about a most colorful cow-come-back-to-life, and even found some inspiration for cleaning out a couple or rooms full of junk that I need to get to this month.

So I went to Dr. Cowbird this morning, complaining of a mild case of the winter doldrums, and the good doctor prescribed Great Cowbird story readin'.

That rumpled figure bouncing down the road behind me in my rearview mirror, as I roll on up the road towards springtime, is those winter doldrums.

Thanks for the mid-winter lift, Cowbird! Ya’all rock!
