    The Recession took our jobs, our home, our savings, and the sense that we were in charge of life. Doing the right thing didn't protect us.

    But look at the snow. Do you say to yourself it's too deep, there's nothing out there but emptiness?

    I need a job. I need a paycheck. I need to feel secure. I need to know that I am safe...

    And I look at that snow, the shimmering waves of white that run to the sky, and the emptiness becomes something else. It soothes me. For the first time since I was a child, magical thinking returns and I dream about the possibilities.
