  • When my grandfather passed away, I begged my grandmother to speak about their relationship. At first, she wouldn't say much. Just repeat that he was "the love of my life" over and over again.

    But I needed more than that. The famed food writer, MFK Fisher said “our three basic needs, for food and security and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others.”

    And so, I got my grandmother into the kitchen.
