  • At least 2 and a half years ago I was visiting San Cristobal de Las Casas. One fine day I meandered into a
shop..filled with the works of artists, among them works by Kiki. I bought several things that day I treasure and use daily. A small pillow..several small coasters with wonderful happy designs and a book about women. My husband uses the coasters everyday on his glass topped desk. A little girl, Angelina, visits us daily and loves the coasters. I copied a stack of them in black and white for her to color...and she does! Then she sticks them on the refrigerator. One day I decided to enlarge one of them poster size and gave a gift to her which hangs over her bed. About a month ago I enlarged another on vinyl. Now it hangs on an outer wall of our home for all to see..facing Mt. Tepozteca with a real Mayan Pyramid at the top! At a language school in the hills of Tepoztlan the coasters again are being used as inspiration..on 2 concrete walls. Now, Calle Cuentos begins just downhill, first story! "My Head is Full of Colors" by Catherine Friend and Illustrated by Kiki Suarez.
