  • So I made an honest mistake about having today (New Years Eve) off. For the last 6 years I've always had New Year's Eve and New Year's Day off. Long story short, I found out we didn't have it off and I was advised I would have to take it unpaid and not be able to use one of my 7 days of vacation.
Ya know initially yes, I was upset but it's fine. Those are the rules then so be it - no matter what the outcome I need to have today off.

I get to see my family (dad, step mom, brother and sister) once maybe twice a year in all. You see, they live in Texas. So forfeiting today to be with them meant more than anything to me.

My family and I went and had family photos done this morning- and I introduced them to one of my favorite places, Pita Jungle. My father experienced a heart attack this year, and has been on a very strict eating regimen and everyone else in the family is watching what they eat as well- so what better place than Pita.

We're all kinda just lounging around now- watching movies, taking naps and playing video games.
I have dinner cooking for the evening and we're all staying in, staying away from all the amateur drinkers and crazies.
I'm going to be sad when they leave in the morning - but with a few turn of events I'm realizing more and more how important family is and how much you need to cherish and enjoy the time you have with them.
