  • As Leonardo is a great soul, it was a wonderful moment for him to appear to my family, all of us reunited in my aunt's ranch close to Rio.

    And he was really wonderful!!

    After he tried to rest in a room and suddenly had been waken up by my schizophrenic cousin with that mad face,reading a religious book by his side;

    after I had to explain him that aunt Marlene and her husband are Baptist missionaries and she especially enjoys that violent suburb overwhelmed by criminal events...

    that everybody says she loves there because she travels too much to realize how violent and sad life in that place is;

    that anyway their ranch has many mango, jambo, jackfruit and graviola trees to make everybody happy with their smell and juices under the hot sun. Thus around two dozens of relatives from here and there were in reunion just to have to find a place in the bedroom or in the porch and a short time to go to the restroom "all together like soviets";

    after watching one of my uncles cleaning out a car with an entire roll of toilet paper taken piece by piece to be used and throwed soon after the cleansing all around the ground like snowflakes in the mud;

    after waiting for long hours in the heat without having the chance of a shower...

    after noticing that all the plugs and all the devices and lamps at the house were on, lights blended to skewers' smoke ...

    We had a moment of lucidity: that planet was going to collapse!!

    Remaining 20 minutes for 1996, a huge blackout at aunt Marlene's house throwed everybody backwards throught the time tunnel and we regressed to CMXCV. There we were dirty and in the dark.The summer rain came and the smell of smoke and skewes for the ravenous people eager for the supper were floodind the place, and everybody was asking and praying "Oh Lord, what will we do now?", like Dark Ages' people a thousand years ago.

    Our missionary couple left our herd behind at their home because they had engagement at the church. They promised to be back to Midnight, before the New Year, but Leonardo and dad and I would find out only a week later that they went back home only after two o'clock in the morning. And the power was repaired only two days later.

    I'm lucky that Leonardo didn't run away from me forever since that spectacular mini-Kingdom Come sponsored by my relatives. We the sheeps of the family had to disband from that apocalyptic New Year like mices!!
