  • There is one place where I am exposed as myself. Completely naked, brutally honest, oddly transparent...

From the window seat of an airplane, climbing higher and higher, the words of Kurt Vonnegut ring in my ears.

"We are who we pretend to be, so we must be careful who we pretend to be."

I pretend to be a lot of things while on the ground, but here I am myself:

I am alone. I am leaving the past behind me me. I am climbing to new heights. There is pressure. There is risk. I am on my way towards another adventure.

No matter where I am going, I get this feeling. This overwhelming calm. An understanding that this is how and where I choose to be.

From the window seat on a plane, tucked neatly behind a wing, I am finally in the one place that truly describes me.

I am on a great adventure, all alone, and 30,000 ft. from where I started.

Looking out the window, all I can think is "am I falling or flying?"

    I guess we'll never know.
