  • So, what do you want for next year? –M. asked.

    Pardon? –I said.

Be selfish! –M. said– Just think of you. Come on; be selfish, you have five minutes. If you could ask for one thing, only one... for you, not for your sister, not for the world, not for peace… only for you, what would it be?

    I just don’t know… –I answered back.

You have a problem, you know? –L. added.

Well, I know what I want. I know what I want for the next year and only for me, not thinking of somebody else... So... I allow myself some selfishness...

I want to find a job in that country.

I want to fly away so that when I’m late my room is not a mess because she decided each five minutes I’m late a drawer or a cupboard goes to the floor.

I want that same peace I have when they think I’m cleaning my room and they won’t come in to tell me do this or do that or fuck off.

    I want to run.

    I want to sing.

    I want to draw.

    I want to dance.

I want to smile a real smile, not a disguise.

    I want to swim.

I want to climb a mountain.

    I want to hug him.

I want to paint with my own colors.

I want to cry, of happiness.

I want to see the sea.

Even better, I want the time and the space and the strength to…

    …just to be me.

And you, if you could ask for one thing for this New Year coming, something only for you… Come on; be selfish! What would you want?
