  • The mountain was higher than a skyscraper, but our feet and bodies and souls were ready anyway. We stocked our bags like mice on a field trip, scurrying around for all the important gadgets and things we would need. When the day arrived to take off we suddenly realized we had forgotten one very crucial thing. We forgot extra pairs of socks. So we went back to collect our socks but when we looked in our drawers our socks were replaced with brassieres for very large ladies. At first we laughed, a big hearty laugh, but then we knew. I knew he knew I knew. And that's when everything - our bodies our feet our souls - came crashing down the mountain. It was clear. crystal. He and I. We would never climb the mountain together again. At least not for a very long time.
