  • I was early for a meeting. I waited in a café, by the window. Outside, on the big square: Hundreds of people passing by, every minute. Every one of them going somewhere. All but one. A black dog. In the middle of the square.

    He sat there the whole time I watched. Mabye half an hour. Mabye a bit longer. He didn't move an inch.

    I went to my meeting, and when I came out, several hours later, he was gone.
