  • Fabrice! My new friend. Fabrice guided me to a fun mile marker in my life: my transition from human to mermaid. He also introduced me to some really cool for friends of his- Mr. Sea Turtle, Mr. Shark, Mr Barracuda, Mr. Lion fish, and Nemo! (and many, many more) He took me back in time to tour Liberty, the American WWII ship that sits below the Sea off the coast of Bali. And he and and his friend Thomas took me to the most beautiful place in Bali- the 7 waterfalls. We hiked and climbed and made our way right under those towers of water and sunlight. It was an amazing afternoon!

But here is what I don't want to forget about Fabrice: singing along to old Rod Stewart tunes In the car, and the story of now he met and pursued his partner. He was living in Bali (he was raised in Germany, mom is German, dad is from Togo, Africa) working at a dive shop. She was on holiday from the Netherlands, learning to dive. They met briefly when she was in between dives, it was love at first sight for him. But he was flying out of Bali to go home to Germany for a few months in just two days! He invited her to a party that night. She did not show up, he searched Amed for her up and down--all the restaurants, resorts, everywhere until he finally found her at a market. Pretending to be on a booze run, he asked why she had not yet come to the party. She came. She didn't leave. At the time they were both dating other people, but this was bigger. He switched his flight to fly to HER home country instead, where he knew no one, and waited there for her for weeks until she finished her mission trip (she's a nurse) in Indonesia. They have been together ever since and now have two great kids.

Fabrice, my fish loving, romantic 80's tunes, go for the girl friend.

Ladies, hold out for the guy that scours a Villiage looking for you!
