  • When I was in Slovenia on a grant from the Margaret Ciaranello Foundation (otherwise known as my mother)*, I had classes morning, afternoon and evenings. There was a break for lunch and a break for dinner, two hours each. That would have been fine if I could afford a taxi, but since I could not and had to walk, the time at each meal was short.

*Shortly before my mother died, she made it possible for me to attend a post graduate writing seminar in poetry in Bled. The seminar was sponsored by Vermont College of Fine Arts. Two professors from Vermont College in the first picture were Rick Jackson Standing and Clare Rossini in pink.
  • By the time I got to the restaurant, there wasn't much time before I had to walk back to for the next session.
  • I do enjoy food, and the food in Slovenia was excellent, without exception. Apologies to the restaurant owners I offended!!!

These pictures were all taken by me during my Vermont College of Fine Arts Writing Seminar in Slovenia. They were all taken in Bled, or within walking distance or a short drive. The angel with the goiter was taken at the church in the next photo. The soil and food was poor in iodine and many of the residents had goiters. Thus, the angels, too, had goiters.
