  • Europe, you know. More precisely: Bergen, Norway, but so very typical of European cities.

Houses that seem to have been rolled out like dice from some giant's hands and randomly scattered at odd angles. It makes walking so much more fun, so exciting. It's like venturing into a labyrinth; you never know where you'll end up.
  • Sometimes, your chosen path ends in a blind alley, but it usually winds its way up and down cobbled hills and crooked staircases, through narrow alleyways and past corners where hollyhocks gracefully encourage you to keep going; once, it lead me to a garden party.
  • People in Bergen are exceptionally friendly, jovial, welcoming. When I woke up the next morning, beside (fully clothed) strangers in a king-size bed, I had no idea where I was, but after a hearty breakfast I was cheerfully sent on my way home in a prepaid taxi.

I made friends for life that late morning.
  • Europe, you know.
  • By the by, if you ever get a chance to visit Bergen, I recommend a visit to "Det Lille Kaffekompaniet" - the city's first, probably smallest, and in my opinion best coffee shop.
