  • It’s the first time I’ve ever bought a house, or any property of the kind. After a childhood with ten different addresses, I have now lived in the same rental apartment building for 22 years.

We bought a townhouse, a four minute walk from our current apartment. We had a meeting to sign the papers on a Friday afternoon.
Folke was goofing around on our way there. ”You are just walking like that because you want your jacket to fall off” I claimed. He didn’t respond. Just kept on walking. Alongside a man with a grey ponytail. We didn’t know that the man that he went alongside with was the man selling half of the house. And that the woman up in a distance was the woman he had parted from, selling the other half of the house.

The first time I saw that look in her eyes was that day at the real estate agents office. We had all signed tons of paper, and there was no turning back. She expressed that it didn’t feel all good. And then quickly added: ”I hope you will be so very happy there!”

The second time I saw it, it was when we met at the house a few days later. We had ordered a review of the property inspection. She seemed so unwilling to let go. And she didn’t know where she was going to live now. She and him lived there for ten years. But she repeated her wishes a couple of times. That she hoped that we would be so very happy.
