  • Before automobiles were wide-spread, it was possible to take a 20 minute train ride from the Orchard Park, NY to Buffalo, NY. Service was regular enough to comute into the city every day. Buffalo was one of the largest rail hubs in the United States. Trains also ran south to Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and beyond.

Today, Orchard Park Depot is a museum devoted to the fantasy (in this region of the country anyway) that is train travel.

I met a friendly Woman at the Depot who walks a nearby street regularly. She remembers a slower time.
