  • The imposing statue of General Franz Sigel in Forest Park.
  • I cycle home past the general every evening if I follow my usual Forest Park route.

He really is rather handsome on top of his horse.

    Rather vain, perhaps.

A quality that seems just as pertinent today as it was then.

But I don't think today's generals will get the equestrian treatment.

A shame really. A horse makes a man. In bronze, at least.
