  • This is Harry Switch.

He is a veteran, a twin, a former employee of U.S. Steel, a husband to a wonderful woman nicknamed "Babe" and a resident of Welch, West Virginia.

Harry insisted that we sit down and eat watermelon, ice cream and spicy Hungarian wax peppers after our interview. He also insisted on wearing his retirement hardhat despite scowls from Babe.

Harry, who is missing a couple fingers from his years spent in the coal mines, shared with me his floppy finger trick that he scares all of his grandchildren with. He shared his special hot pepper recipe with me. He showed Babe how to properly hold the BB gun out the windowsill and aim at squirrels in their backyard. He even shared painful stories of losing his father when he was a toddler and his twin during WWII.

This was a good day...all my days spent with Harry & Babe were good days.

At one point when I was rolling in laughter, Harry looked at Babe and said, "I think she likes us, Babe."

    I think he is right.

Alot can be learned from a 90-year-old man while sitting at a table eating watermelon.
