  • An attractive women in her mid-twenties stumbles in the hall evidently drunk. She moves towards the reception desk and, after a long pause holding her head in her hands in front of me, she asks “How do you spell 'Bonsoir mon cherie'?”

    I write it down for her on a piece of paper, she reads it out loud to me and then she throws the post-it away.

    She adds a "Bonne nuit" full of shame, without looking into my eyes, and climbs to her room.

    I do not leave my post but I daydream about the possible outcomes of that short and meaningless exchange.
