  • The picture was taken in Chelsea, where different means of transportation compete with one another: rockets, buses, cars (invisible here), bicycles, and pedestrians. (Trans-substantiation will be added as soon as the MTA reaches a deal with Los Alamos.)

    In terms of formal elements, there is an abundance of circles, though sharply offset by one single triangle. Women underdressed for the season, but protected from the elements by their shameless nonphysicality and flatness, are united in an act of staring at the contents of the triangle, a robot and his wife or daughter trying to cross the street.

    Signage here stares at signage there, across the unbridgeable gap of the third dimension.
