  • The laptop man is always there. His laptop is always open.

    When the lady with the glass eye and her husband get on they sit opposite him. She likes polka dots, her husband helps her work an iPad in a bright case. She asks him "How's your calendar?"
    They kiss nosily when she gets off the train.

    The Scotsman gets on. He knows the laptop man. They sit together and talk about Crystal Palace and commuting until the Scotsman says "I'm going to get some sleep now". Sometimes he has to sit next to me and talk through the gap in the seats, but this doesn't happen often.

    I usually wake up next to a stranger, and see the laptop man close the laptop and put on his jacket.
