  • Flooded basement, wet on the rugs, wet on the feet.

Furnace iffy, hot water heater looking pink, pale, wet, mouldy, how lucky can we be.

    No, but I am serious.

What is a small flood in wet country? We live on a Great Lake, we live at sea level or so, we enter this weekend the dark times of little light, dependent on our inner starlight and sunshine saved, that investment or investiture of the heart-times.

Well you call the man, who calls his guy, and you wait. Basement flooded, what is there to do but wade down in sweet pink rubber footwear?

And being as I am still, at heart, the old radio show producer I was for my first career, I have to have my soundtrack going, in dry times and most certainly in wet.

I have to DJ my troubles. How else will I get on? How else will I survive?, how you are you all out there this morning driving in those flooded highways and byways, lining up, all you subway riders to bus it in, all you gas pump waiters, this is going out to all those getting by, in their shelters, in their welts and bruises, in their homes and the sea of troubles porch waters, for all of you listening in by means of your old water-soaked crackle and static transistors, here's a little, yeah I know I couldn't help myself, "Sea of Heartbreak," with Roseanne Cash and guest throat Bruce Springsteen.

And maybe if you're good, I might play a little of that, well you know I do love it too, that Jimmy Buffet version of "Sea of Heartbreak," with George Strait.

But you know....I think I'll just let it spin a bit more of Miss Cash-----and don't you wish you had a little bit more of that missed cash in the bank, me too, so shore up the porch and here's, "She's Got You."

This is Miss Susie-Q coming at you with her pink boots on, watching my furnace swim, and my hot water tank do the butterfly.
