  • My boyfriend used to joke,
    when I was pregnant,
that the only thing that would put our baby to sleep when they were born,
would be the theme tune to Father Ted.

And he was kind of right.

We both often hum the Divine Comedy bars,
as Jacob is struggling to close his eyes
and drift into the land of nod.

I love snuggling up in bed.
    Duvet tucked in.
    Portable TV on.
    Father Ted DVD playing.
I know them so well now that if I close my eyes before the credits roll it really doesn’t matter.

When I was pregnant this was especially my routine.
    Feet propped up with pillows,
    snuggling and warm,
    comfy TV,
    all before 10pm.

A little slice of Irish heaven in the south Wales valleys.
