  • Day's end at Ho'okena Beach on Hawaii's Big Island. A power spot, heavy with mana: spiritual and healing energy. My family is ready to go, but I linger- it's hard to say goodbye to this extraordinary place. Then, just before we leave, the local man and I exchange hellos. And in wonderful, melodious pidgin he says, "I want to live a thousand years. Wake up, and see this everyday. I never get tired of it." That moment was a gift I'll always carry with me; an intangible souvenir from one of my favorite places on earth.
