  • "The mountains are calling and I must come" - John Muir

It started with a desire to hike the highest mountain in the continental United States. Mt Whitney - at 14,976 ft above sea level.

It took several years to get there. Much conditioning. Much learning about self, weather, gear, first aid, and mountain features. Many smaller hills and peaks.

Now - after 31 years of following the call to the mountains, Mt Whitney has been conquered by many routes and in all seasons. I try to match the number of hikes and climbs to my age.

It is still there. It still holds mystery in its features. There is still adventure and danger.

The desire to hike Mt Whitney has led to mountains throughout California, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Switzerland, Mexico and Baja.

The call of the mountains continues to be a journey of self discovery, adventure, fear, joy, danger, rescue, beauty, wonder, and wonderful friendships.

    I must answer the call......
