  • While the air is brisk, the sun is warm
and cradled in vibrant living green
    an orphaned yellow leaf
    stands tall.

Father wind exhales a mist across the land
and freezing fog shrouds the landscape.
    A softly spiky shell encases
    aspen and evergreen.

Mother nature pushes her sun child
    up and over the horizon.
    Silent and still,
    summer shine illuminates
    autumn's drift
    in winter's delicate brightness.

    And in this
    seasonal collision
    I am fully alive,
    and grateful.
