  • She was barefoot in the sand...
she didn't mind the coolness beneath her feet on this misty morning.
She walked along the waters edge
sandals swinging in her left hand
and the hem of her long dress skimming the white sand.
She longed to see the sun rise as she had done so many times before.
But, this morning, she waited for it to rise for a different reason.
She smiled as she passed a couple embraced in the cloak of love.
She sighed, breathed in the salty ocean air and closed her eyes
calling back to memory the sweetness of his voice when he whispered her name.
His intoxicating scent as they danced cheek to cheek.
The softness of his lips when he kissed her good-night.
and it was in this very moment she realized what she had always wanted; always needed.
The one thing she had known without a doubt all of these years.
She was in love with her best-friend.
