  • We don't watch a lot of television, other than some sports, but we do tend to veg out in front of the boob tube over dinner. We rarely watch newer shows, but do like some of the older great ones: Andy Griffith, M*A*S*H, Twilight Zone...

    I'm sure that the cable channels that air those shows know the predominant demographics of their audiences. The ads are all about reverse mortgages, walk-in bathtubs, low cost life insurance to cover final expenses so as not to be a burden to your family, buzzers-on-a-necklace in case you fall and can't get up, and a myriad of medications related to colons and other private parts best not mentioned while eating.

    We shake our heads in defiant disbelief and (mostly) disinterest. Who the blazes do they think they're talking to? And why are they showing this stuff to us?
