  • It was back to work today after the Christmas & New Year Holidays. Actually, i went back for a few days last week but since the didn't seem like there were too many people around (probably because there wasn't!) i wasn't until today that it felt like I was really back to work.

I did more road trips this break than I have ever done on a holiday home in Australia before. I drove from Melbourne to Sydney for the first time in my life, which was actually an OK drive. It was certainly boring in parts, but I love it when you make the Hume Highway makes the transition from the suburbs to the more open road. Australia is really unique visually, you can look out the window at the paddocks of hills dotted with the silhouette of trees and there's no mistaking where you are. It's these gum tree fenced sections of road that give way to rolling green & brown hills filled with long grass, and a few cows and sheep that have always captured Australian-ness more than anything to me.

I took this picture whilst my girlfriend was taking a turn at driving for a while. A Jacyo caravan with a bunch of bicycles bringing up it's rear is what i'd call a pretty quintessential traditional Aussie Christmas image. This was actually Christmas Eve, so i doubt that any of the bikes where presents this year, but there's every chance that they would have been given to their owners one Christmas past.
